Day Canoe Trip
September 11
NOTE NEW DATE!!! A lazy, winding river, a canoe, lunch on a sand bar and good company--what a great way to celebrate the end of summer! Join us as we lead you down the Skunk River. We'll provide the canoes, the lunch, the life jackets--you bring yourself and a canoe buddy, sun screen, a water bottle and maybe some bug spray! Plan to meet at camp at 9 a.m. and we'll take it from there. If you don't have a full day to commit to recreation, there is even a half-day option if you let us know in advance. Register early as space is limited; registration fee of $17 per person ($10 per child 12 & under) includes lunch and snacks. Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. River levels will continue to be monitored for safe conditions and registrants will be contacted by phone if cancellation is warranted. Pre-registration is required by phone or email. Click here to register. Any questions, please contact Johanna Bontrager, program director.
Sing & S'mores
September 12
Join us for an evening of fun for all ages! Starting at 6 p.m., we'll raise our voices together in an outdoor hymn sing led by Heather Herschberger, sprinkled with some of the favorite camp songs. Following singing, we'll gather around the campfire for a s'mores smorgasbord (this was a big hit last year!) and stories around the campfire from the first director of Crooked Creek, Ken and Noreen Gingerich. Free will donations will be accepted; pre-registration is not required. Just show up and bring a friend! Any questions, please contact Johanna Bontrager, program director.
Senior Day
October 7
Our annual retreat held for the more 'mature' audience will be held at the Retreat Lodge beginning at 9:30 a.m. Together with your friends you will experience God in nature, scripture and song through Wilford Yoder's presentation of his nature photography. Lunch will be the ever-popular potluck, and following will be several activity options to choose from including a bus tour of the Barn Quilts of Washington County. Watch this space for more information; or contact Johanna Bontrager, program director.
Climbing Club
Begins October 10, concludes March 13
Here's an opportunity for those age 16 and older to develop climbing skills, learn new techniques of climbing and spend quality time pursuing new heights. Each meeting will start with a knot-tying review followed by belayer training/review. The remainder of the time will be dedicated to climbing. Climbing Club takes place the second Sunday of every month in the the Activity Center from 5 - 7 p.m. Registration fee is $10 per person, or $5 for high school students. You must call camp office to register. Any questions, please contact Johanna Bontrager, program director.
Annual Meeting
November 15
All are invited to join us for our annual soup supper and short program to hear what has been happening at camp for the past year and what we look forward to in the coming year. It's a great place to figure out how you can 'plug in' to and be a part of the ministry here at camp. Pre-registration is not required and a free-will offering will be taken for Camp's general fund. Come and bring a friend! For more information, contact camp office.
Come to the Table
December 4
If you'd like a relaxing day surrounded by the beauty of winter nature at camp and the glorious smells of bread baking, this day is for you! Participants will learn by doing as you make bread and also learn to weave a simple basket in which to take it home. This day is great for all ages and we encourage mentor/mentee, mother/daughter, sisters, bible study gals...all those relationships where you've been trying to find a day to do something fun together! Pre-registration is required and a fee will be charged to cover the day's expenses. Any questions, please contact Johanna Bontrager, program director.
